Steve Gill Cartoon Artist

Born and raised in Clayton, California, Steve comes from a family of professional singers, musicians and artists. On the road at the early age of 5, Steve toured with his parents’ band during the early 1960’s while they played the nightclub circuit in Las Vegas, Reno & Lake Tahoe. A few years later, he was off with his Dad who was traveling across the U.S. selling his sculptures at some of the first ever “art shows” led by a small group of aspiring artists.

Steve’s first drawings were of race cars and rat finks. Inspired by Mad Magazine artist, Don Martin, Steve soon developed his own unique style.

In the 1970’s, Steve began painting “rocks” into animals and people. So successful were his “famous rocks,” that a large boulder which Steve painted into an “eyeball” on a country road in his hometown of Clayton, still remains there today and has been continually repainted by the townspeople for over 30 years every time the County paints it over with white paint!

Like Father, Like Son You can still find him exhibiting at Art Shows around the country – just follow the roars of laughter and look for a group of people huddled around a booth giggling!!

Over 150 of Steve’s designs are currently being distributed throughout the United States and Canada on an array of products that include: Dental Reminder Cards, Christmas Cards, Stickers and T-shirts.
